Landscape Architecture

The foundation of a beautiful and successful landscape project at Scott Byron & Co., Inc. is the understanding that our mission is about meeting our clients' needs.  A good design must work for their lifestyle as well as be pleasing to the eye.  We want to know: Is the space to be used for entertaining?  Is it the approach to the home?  Is it simply a tranquil place on which to gaze?  At Scott Byron & Co, we are dedicated to making your dreams come true.

We take the principles of Design; texture darkness and light, color, space, form and shape and combine them with your needs and dreams.  The outcome is at once beautiful yet practical, tranquil yet functional.  We want you to approach your driveway and marvel at the spring bulbs all while having ample room for parking.

Do you love to garden?  We can combine that love with surroundings that enhance and compliment your efforts.  Maybe it is a raised flower bed for someone with physical limitations or a meandering pathway that is wheelchair friendly.

We install all of our work.  This gives our designs a unique perspective because we know how to really make a dream a reality.  Our sensitivity to the details of hardscape materials, architectural styles and plant material are unsurpassed in landscape architecture.

Everyday situations can be an opportunity to really be creative.  We welcome those challenges whether it is a play area, driveway or a place to grill.  Give us the opportunity to create a unique solution to your landscape needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Question: Why do I need a Landscape Architect?

Answer:  A great garden or hardscape, a magnificent vista or entry is much more than selecting pretty plant material.  Landscape Architects are trained in the elements of design just like Architects for buildings, but in this case Landscape Architects are not confined by walls and ceilings - the sky is the limit.  Also Landscape Architects are trained in the engineering aspects of installation to make sure the drainage is correct, so everything flows away from your house.  A Landscape Architect understands how to integrate your sites particular topography and climate to give you what you want in a way that works with where you live.

Question: When should a Landscape Architect be brought in on the project?

Answer: As early  as possible.  A local museum was designed with its' main entrance facing west with doors that are reached by climbing a tall flight of concrete steps.  Had a Landscape Architect been consulted at the onset of the project, the building Architect would have learned that our often severe Chicago winters blow west to east.  The Landscape Architect is trained to know that snow will blanket those steps, melt in the sun and freeze as the sun sets, creating a very hazardous situation.  Besides understanding such issues as how to place your house on the property, Landscape Architects are trained to take in all other elements, existing trees and plants, usage and traffic patterns.  So, the sooner the better will make for a smoother process.

Question: Will Scott Byron & Co., Inc. do a project in phases?

Answer: Of course we will.  We encourage our clients to let us produce a master plan for the sake on continuity,  Then, working with your time frame and budget we can install the project at your pace.
